Minecraft Fun 9: Recipe Ideas

Description

These are twenty crafting ideas for Minecraft. They were assembled using the Minecraft Recipe Designer (here: [link])

1. Storage Boat: The storage boat can be used to transport goods across the sea, a river or a man-made canal. (Personally, I don't think there are such things as rivers in Minecraft yet. All I've seen are the seas, lakes, water flows from high places, etc.) (Edit: LOL There's gonna be rivers in 1.8. I stand corrected) When it breaks, it drops the regular items that the boat drops (two sticks three planks or three sticks two planks?), plus the chest and all the items inside.

Recipe makes one storage boat.

2. Powered Boat: This powered boat is run when an item used for cooking is put in the furnace. Practically, it can only be used to travel across 1 block wide man-made canals. When it breaks, it drops the regular items that the boat drops, plus the furnace and, if possible, the items used for cooking inside of it. (If the furnace was burning off it's last item, it will not be dropped, and if the same furnace is placed, it won't continue cooking.)

3. Paintbrush: Used for painting your own custom paintings.

4. Easel: When you place them and right-click them, it opens up a picture of the blank painting plus the dyes and the paintbrush you have. You can only use the painting creator if you have at least one dye and one paintbrush, otherwise it will not work. Once inside the creator, you can choose the size of your picture (but only the sizes used to create the pictures already in game, like 16x16, 16x32, 32x32, 64x64). You can choose the dye you want to use by clicking it with the paintbrush. If you have one dye, it will cover twenty pixels before it runs out. If you have two of the same dye, it will cover forty pixels, if you have three, sixty pixels, etc.

When you are done with your picture, you can give your painting a title, press Save and the picture is automatically inserted into one of your chests.

If all of your chests are full, the creator alerts you to the fact and asks you if you want to save the painting for later use. All saves are destroyed when you destroy the easel. You can save your paintings anytime so you can edit them later.

Custom paintings can be broken and put back up in different places.

Other buttons in the creator include Undo, Fill, Redo, Zoom and New.

The number of uses of one dye in a painting creator does not change when dying wool and sheep. For example, if you use the dye 19/20 times, it is still one whole dye when used on sheep/wool. If used completely, the dye disappears altogether.

Recipe makes one easel for one painting only.

5. Three-Output Diode: Ever had a redstone repeater and wanted to have three outputs for it? Never fear, the three-output diode is here! The three output diode is literally three repeaters in one. There is one input to the repeater and there are three outputs. At any time, you can turn off one or two outputs at any time, so you can design the diode in any way you want. Whenever you place the three-output diode, the input end is closest to you.

What makes it more special is that you can change the length of the diode for each output. For output one, you could set the delay to 4, for output two you could set the delay to 1 and for the third output you could set the delay to 3. Making music and other electronic creations will be more compact this way.

Recipe makes one three-way diode.

6. Chocolate: Heals five hearts. The chocolate is seperated into five pieces, like cake is seperated into six pieces. Each piece of chocolate heals a heart.

Recipe makes one chocolate.

7. Quill and Ink Bowl: Used to write on paper and books. The Quill and Ink Bowl can be used to write 526 characters before the ink runs out. The stick and the bowl are left behind.

(Up to 10000 words can be written in one book and 300 can be written on paper, even though three pieces of paper are made into one book. Even though three books are in one bookshelf, the bookshelf can hold five books for a total of 50000 words. When the bookshelf is destroyed, the books are dropped with the words still in them)

8. Rubber/Slime Block: This block, when jumped on, propels you up three blocks as if you were on a trampoline. However, it is also used to mitigate damage from falls. When you fall onto a rubber block, your damage is halved. For example, falling twenty blocks gives you 8.5 damage, but falling onto rubber decreases it to 4.5 (if the damage received has a half in it, the whole number is halved but not the .5). This means that you can fall 45 blocks onto rubber and still survive, given you have full health. When you fall onto rubber, you still bounce up three blocks.

9. Custom Bed: The dye you use changes the colour of the bedsheet (default red).

10. Chocolate Frosting Cake: Chocolate cake cannot be made, but chocolate frosting can be made. Heals the same number of hearts as regular cake, but is used for decoration.

Recipe makes one Chocolate Frosting Cake.

11. Dye Bucket: This can be used to dye stone blocks. The dye can be changed. Lasts 13 uses. When used up, the bucket is left behind. This is a good idea as a replacement for wool since wool is flammable.

Recipe makes one Dye Bucket.

12. Write-in Book: When the Quill and Ink Bowl (represented by the bowl of mushroom soup) combines with a book, it makes and book that you can write in.

Recipe makes one Write-In Book.

13. Supercharged TNT: This TNT glows in the dark and also unleashes a powerful force upon explosion. The crater is makes is twice the size of the crater a supercharged creeper creates. Being within ten blocks of a Supercharged TNT can kill you if you have no armor. Being within twenty blocks will cause you to lose five hearts. Anything within thirty blocks is damaged or broken. However, every block that is destroyed by a Supercharged TNT (unless the block returns no item, for example, leaves, glass and bookshelves) is dropped instead of the drops being destroyed as well.

Recipe makes one Supercharged TNT.

14. Glass Half-Block: This is a special block. It can be used for steps. It does not drop anything when destroyed. However, you can attack any animal through the empty space of the block without being attacked.

Recipe makes three Glass Half-Blocks.

15. Obsidian Pickaxe: Destroys slightly slower than a diamond pickaxe. However, you can't mine obsidian blocks (it takes thirty seconds to mine an obsidian block using an obsidian pickaxe and doesn't drop anything). Can be used 4284 times.

Recipe makes one Obsidian Pickaxe.

16. Obsidian Hoe: Used for crops. Can be used 4284 times.

Recipe makes one Obsidian Hoe.

17. Obsidian Shovel: Destroys grass, sand, clay and gravel blocks (and any other material destroyed faster by shovel) slightly slower than a diamond shovel. Can be used 4284 times.

Recipe makes one Obsidian Shovel.

18. Obsidian Sword: Inflicts four hearts of damage on any mob. Can be used 4284 times.

Recipe makes one Obsidian Sword.

19. Obsidian Axe: Cuts wood or any wood related blocks slightly slower than a diamond axe. Can be used 4284 times.

Recipe makes one Obsidian Axe.

20. Handheld Glowstone Torch: Special torch that cannot be placed, but can be held. They only stack up to one torch, just like porkchops. Each torch lasts ten minutes before the light flickers and goes out. When the torch dies, the stick is left behind. The torch gives a light level of 15.

Recipe makes one Handheld Glowstone Torch.
